Shabby Chic Crosses

I was inspired yet again with a salvaged cross project from Laurel at Chipping with Charm.

In her "Trash to Treasured" post from last Easter she re-purposed levels and door plates into crosses.

She used Amazing Goop to join the level and the door plates.  Don't you love the industrial feel of these crosses?

This is my level that I purchased at a consignment shop for $6.

I already had these curvy door plates that I had painted white.

I had my husband cut the level into two pieces.  I didn't remove the level bubble viewer or whatever that thing is called, I just painted over it.  I dry brushed or shabby white washed the whole level.

I also distressed the door plate and the levels a bit.  The one on the right needs a little more distressing.

I am using a temporary adhesive here.  I am going to have my husband drill a hole in the door plate and screw it right into the level.  I am thinking these may go outside after Easter so I am going to use a screw.

I like the way my shabby chic crosses turned out!  Thanks Laurel for the idea!  (Again!)

Carlene, those are so pretty. I love that you painted them white. Great idea! You asked if I made my script orbs. I did not, but with your talent, it would be an easy craft for you. laurie

Hi Carlene,
I love these crosses and painted white perfect. I have a cross collection in my entry and I do have these pieces too, so thank you for the inspiration. I may try one to add to my wall.

Happy Creating, Celestina Marie
