A Valentine's Day Mantel

I don't even have all of my Christmas decorations put away yet.

BUT, I got the bright idea to use my red bicycle wheel from my Christmas mantel again for Valentine's Day.I have a bag full of old valentines from my early childhood, the late 1950's and early 1960's.

Oil lamps, a sewing machine drawer, faux greenery, an old book, a head vase, the bike wheel, five vintage valentines, a red vintage tray, a heart swag, a "love" sign, a felt rose, a lantern and a couple of doilies complete the mantel display.

A double duty, re-purposed bicycle wheel anchors my Christmas and Valentine's Day mantels.

So cute! You can keep the wheel around all year long. Flag for 4th of July, ghosts for Halloween!

Looks great Carlene!! I'm almost done packing up Christmas...I spent yesterday sweeping up dead greens...and rearranging. Maybe if I could stay focused on the "task"?? LOVE that red wheel rim!!

Now I have to go out and find a bicycle wheel. It will definitely have to be red. A friend owns a bike shop so I might hit him up.

Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi Carlene,
I could hardly wait to hop over and see it. I have so got to find me a bicylcle wheel. Love it with the vintage Valentines. I have a collection of old ones I'll be pulling out. Won't be displayed nearly as cute as this. Great job. Who would believe that you have never done a Valentine Mantle before? Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup.
